When we launched the iCre8SA programme, we were inundated with applications from young people all over the country, all determined to change South Africa with their original innovation. After combing through these applications, we found our 2015 cohort, and so began a yearlong journey.
In four, weeklong sessions YouthLab and a specially selected group of mentors worked with our innovators to turn their ideas into a reality. Each innovator was paired with a mentor who was an expert in their chosen field, advising them on how to reach the next level. The first week saw innovators introduced to South Africa’s innovation and start-up ecosystem so that they could find their place in this environment. In the next week of workshops, innovators were taught how to use there creativity to set establish the organisation capabilities for their innovations. In the third week, they learned the ins and outs of entrepreneurship int eh South African landscape. Finally, the innovators learned to pitch their ideas to funders.
At the end of the fourth session, we celebrated! Take a look at some of the fun we had and read more on the outcomes of iCre8SA here.
