Young people are the country’s future, but where do they fit in in building that future? The number of challenges faced by South Africa’s youth are daunting, from unemployment, to crime and substance abuse and a wholesale response is needed. The proposed National Youth Policy 2020, plans to be just that.
Youth Lab, in partnership with Action 2015 and Constitution Hill, invited the Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Buti Manamela, youth organisations and individuals to participate in the “Youth Futures: Draft National Youth Policy 2020 Workshop.” The workshop was a response to a call from government to interrogate and give feedback on the Draft National Youth Policy 2020, released by the Presidency on the 14th of January 2015.
This report is a result of that workshop, incorporating key discussion points and debates. Download the report.
