On the 26th July 2013, Youth Lab in Partnership with the Wits Centre of Entrepreneurship hosted a youth-led, solutions oriented dialogue on entrepreneurship among young South Africans. The dialogue brought together young entrepreneurs, government representatives, academics, entrepreneurial support structures and successful entrepreneurs to engage on key strategies toward entrepreneurial success.
Youth Lab is pleased to have hosted 6 panelist from various government and non-government institutions who spoke and engaged the audience on different aspects of the challenges of entrepreneurship in South Africa. After engaging with the two panels, over sixty young current and aspirant entrepreneurs suggested strategic action that can enhance policies, practices and partnerships that impact on the culture of entrepreneurship, funding models and access to business opportunities in both the public and private sector.
This policy brief outlines the key discussion points and strategic suggestions generated from the insights shared by the panels and the participants. Youth Lab seeks to raise the key issues in this important aspect of the growth and future of South African economic and social development.
